According to a 2012 survey by Accountemps, “Eighty-seven percent of managers interviewed for the survey said email is an appropriate way to express thanks after meeting with a hiring manager, and 81 percent cited phone calls as OK.”
The thank-you letter may actually get you the job. You cannot afford to think of this as simply an optional exercise. It is critical getting hired and should be regarded as a basic act of courtesy and consideration.
